The Bob Marley story is being told in an epic new biopic, due for cinematic release this month. The film comes with the blessing of the Bob Marley estate.

Some of his family including his wife and 2 of his children, Ziggy and Cedella have producer credits on the project. The biopic "Bob Marley: One Love", is of course, named after the classic song, first recorded by Marleys' first band The Wailers way back in their 1965 debut studio album The Wailing Wailers.

Filmed at the real locations where Bob lived, played and worked such as Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston, the movie is not only made to entertain fans but also inspire. British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir was eventually cast as the reggae icon after a year-long search. The film is expected to encompass a broad view of Bob Marley's entire life.

Born Robert Nesta Marley in Jamaica 1945 on February 6th Bob Marley changed the music world before his untimely death from cancer at just 36. His hit songs include 'Three Little Birds', 'Redemption Song and Could You Be Loved', whilst his albums comprised Exodus, and the 15-times platinum Legend compilation.

Considered to be one of the top cannabis culture icons of all time one of Marley's most famous images in pop culture is that of the star with a spliff in his hand and smoke billowing. Marley's advocacy of cannabis was, however, serious. Smoking weed is classed as a form of religious ritual within the Rastafarian faith, of which Marley followed and he believed fully in the plants' spiritual and medicinal properties. The rumour is that Marley smoked around 18 joints a day

“Herb is a plant. Herb is good for everything.” - Bob Marley

The Marley estate has since made several launches into the legal cannabis landscape, starting with Marley Natural Fine Cannabis back in 2016.

"You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became? With this release, we look forward to inspiring not only the long-time fans but also the younger generation, giving them a vehicle that opens the door to explore Bob’s life and music and in so doing expand his universal message of unification, justice and peace throughout the earth." - Bob's son and producer, Ziggy Marley.
