The Super Bowl is typically the most-watched television program of the whole year, and it’s an opportunity for company’s to get in front of millions of American citizans. Typically companies debut new publicity campaigns and show their most creative commercials during this event. Some viewers eagerly anticipate on those advertisements that run during stoppages in play.
It should have happened at the night of the Super Bowl… Cannabis almost made its way to advertisment world of television. Acreage Holdings’ had a ad for the Super Bowl about medical marijuana. Featuring testimonies of patients who have seen the healing benefits of the plant, this one minute-long ad raises questions by everybody. “Why is this medicine is illegal.”
While medical marijuana is now legal in more than 30 states. The federal prohibition on cannabis has restricted research and made it difficult for some potential patients to get their hands on a drug that proponents say helps treat seizures, pain and other ailments.
CBS ultimately decided to say no to the advertisment.
